NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 24-year-old man died and his 21-year-old passenger was hurt after he lost control of a BMW and crashed into a tree in Brooklyn early Wednesday morning, police said.

Nuvakh Ilishayev was driving a 2019 BMW M5 sedan north on Ocean Parkway in Kensington around 12:40 a.m. on Wednesday when he lost control of the car and hit a tree at the corner of Newkirk Avenue, a preliminary NYPD investigation found.

Emergency responders found Ilishayev and a 21-year-old man who had been riding in the front passenger seat pinned inside the BMW, police said.

Ilishayev, who suffered “severe body trauma," was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital, the NYPD said. The 21-year-old man was listed in stable condition.

Police said Ilishayev, who lived in Kensington, was driving at a “high rate of speed” when he hit the tree. An investigation is ongoing.
