NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 3-month-old baby was hospitalized in critical condition after police officers found the infant unconscious inside a Lower East Side apartment on Monday evening, the NYPD said.

Officers responding to a 911 call found the baby unconscious and unresponsive inside a Vladeck Houses building on Water Street around 8:10 p.m. on Monday, police said.

The baby was taken to New York-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center in critical condition, the NYPD said.

Police sources told the New York Post the infant may have been a victim of shaken baby syndrome.
