NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police in the Westchester County village of Pleasantville on Friday identified the two adults and two children found dead in their home Thursday, and confirmed it was an apparent murder-suicide.
Pleasantville Police chief Erik Grutzner said Chuan-Kai "Tom" Liu, 46, used a knife to kill his wife Dorothy, 42, and their children Tenneson, 7, and Adaline, 4. He then took his own life.
Grutzner said they had lived in the home since October 2016.
He said the motive is unclear, but the father has been under "a considerable amount of stress."
He also said there was no history of domestic abuse.
Police were called to the house on Romer Avenue to do a welfare check after the two children didn't show up at school.
Officers entered the home and found the bodies.
"The community is reeling in the wake of a tragedy," Pleasantville mayor Peter Scherer said.
