HARTFORD, CT (1010 WINS) -- Gov. Ned Lamont reported 55 new COVID-19 deaths and 432 new cases on Friday, bringing the total number of cases in Connecticut close to 40,000.
As of Friday, 39,640 people in the state had tested positive for COVID-19, and 3,637 people had died of complications related to the virus.
Hospitalizations dropped by 76 between Thursday and Friday, to 740, Lamont said.
On Thursday, Connecticut released new guidelines for its state beaches and parks ahead of Memorial Day Weekend.
Parking will be limited at many of the state’s parks. Swimming will be allowed at shoreline beaches, but will not be allowed at inland parks.
Connecticut’s first phase of reopenings kicked off on Wednesday. Lamont has said a second phase of reopenings could begin around June 20.
