NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The Environmental Protection Agency has approved two Lysol products it says “safely and effectively” kill the novel coronavirus on surfaces.
Lysol Disinfectant Spray and Lysol Disinfectant Max Cover Mist are both effective against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, the EPA said in a release Monday.
Products cannot claim they can kill any “particular pathogen,” including SARS-CoV-2, until the claim is authorized by the EPA, the release noted.
The EPA currently has a list of more than 420 products “that meet the agency’s criteria for use against SARS-CoV-2” on surfaces, according to the release.
“EPA is committed to identifying new tools and providing accurate and up-to-date information to help the American public protect themselves and their families from the novel coronavirus,” EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler said in a statement.
