NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A hit-and-run driver fatally struck a 7-year-old boy who walked out onto a highway on Long Island Sunday night, police said.
Sadq Aljomi wandered out of his home in Mastic unattended and walked into the eastbound lanes of Route 27, between exits 58 and 59, around 10:15 p.m. on Sunday, Suffolk County police said.
A driver then hit the boy before fleeing the scene, according to police. Police didn’t say what kind of car the driver was operating.
Aljomi was taken to a hospital in East Patchogue, where he was pronounced dead.
