NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A man may lose his eye after a bizarre, grisly and apparently random attack in Brooklyn.

Police said a man went into a deli at Broadway and Dekalb Avenue in Bushwick around 2 a.m. Saturday. The man then walked behind a counter and stole a knife, according to police.

A short time later, he went up to a 27-year-old man about a block away, knocked him to the ground and stabbed him in the eye with the stolen knife, police said.

The force of the blow broke the knife and left it stuck in the man’s eye, according to police.

The victim was taken to Kings County Hospital, and police said he may lose his eye.

The suspect, 28-year-old Terrell Herring, was arrested nearby and allegedly still had the handle of the knife on him.

He’s been charged with assault, petit larceny and drug possession. Police said they found cocaine on him.

There’s no indication of any motive in the shocking attack.
