NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- NYC Pride announced on Friday that Janelle Monae will headline NYC Pride Island 2020 this summer.
The 34-year-old self proclaimed "queer black woman in America"will be a part of the weekend-long LGBTQ festival set to take place on June 27, at Pier 97 in New York’s Hudson River Park.
"Pride means so much to so many of us, and to have the opportunity to share my live performance during Pride has always been a dream," said Monae in a statement. "Celebrating Pride in NYC is a rite of passage for a queer person. I am grateful for the community it creates, and I can’t wait to party with everyone."
The festival will also feature appearances by Russian punk rockers Pussy Riot, Australian pop star Betty Who, Brazilian singer Luisa Sonza and DJs Coco and Breezy.
Pride Island tickets go on sale March 13.
