Man on scooter critically hurt in Manhattan hit-and-run, cyclist killed in Brooklyn crash

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A man on a scooter was critically injured when he was hit by an SUV that fled the scene in lower Manhattan on Thursday morning hours after a cyclist was struck and killed in Brooklyn, authorities said.

The scooter driver was on Pearl Street around 2:30 a.m. when he was hit by a black SUV that was exiting the Brooklyn Bridge, WABC reported.

Citizen App video shows emergency responders at the scene after the crash.

The 39-year-old suffered head and body trauma and was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he was listed in critical but stable condition, according to the report.

Police were continuing to search for the SUV driver.

The cyclist suffered head trauma and was taken to Maimonides Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He has not been identified.

The NYPD's Highway District Collision Investigation Squad is investigating the crash.
