NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A trio of gunmen fired into a car dealership in the Bronx on Monday night, hitting a father as he shielded his three young children from the bullets, surveillance footage released by the NYPD shows.

The 39-year-old man was sitting on a couch next to his three kids inside a used car dealership at 4077 Boston Road in Eastchester around 7:20 p.m. on Monday when three gunmen started shooting at another person inside the dealership, police said.

That person fired back at the gunmen, the NYPD said. Surveillance video shows the dad pull his kids off the couch and onto the ground to shield them from the gunfire.

At some point during the incident, a bullet hit the dad in the right thigh, police said. He was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition, according to police. His children weren’t physically injured.

Police are now searching for the three gunmen, one of whom fled the dealership in a vehicle that belonged to a customer, the NYPD said. The other two suspects fled the scene on foot, police said. An investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
