NEW YORK (1010 WINS) --  Former Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg on Thursday announced his endorsement of  28 candidates running for federal and state office, including those from New York City, Long Island and Westchester County.

The former mayor of South Bend, Indiana -- who is part of presidential nominee Joe Biden's White House transition team -- is endorsing New York City councilman Ritchie Torres of the Bronx.

Buttigieg -- through his PAC Win The Era -- also announced the endorsement of Rep. Kathleen Rice, whose district includes Nassau County.

He also endorseed attorney Mondaire Jones, who is running to represent New York's 17th congressional district, which includes Rockland County and northern Westchester County.

Buttigieg also endorsed New Jersey's Rep. Andy Kim, whose district stretches from the eastern suburbs of Philadelphia to the Jersey Shore.
