Police said the boy was in his sixth-floor apartment near West 167 Street and Anderson Avenue shortly after midnight on June 24 when a firework came in through the window and exploded.
The boy suffered burns to his left arm and stomach. He was taken to Columbia Presbyterian Children's Hospital, where he was treated and released.
Police said four or five men were seen lighting fireworks on the street before one of the explosives flew threw the apartment window.
The men were seen taking the fireworks out of a gray, four-door Ford Fusion with Pennsylvania license plates, according to police.
