Higher education: SUNY to offer minor in marijuana business

By 1010 WINS

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – SUNY Morrisville is developing a marijuana business minor to prepare students for jobs in the legal cannabis industry.

Jennifer Gilbert Jenkins, an assistant professor of agriculture science, says the program will combine engineering, science and business courses.

“We’re an ag and technical college,” she said. “Our job is to train the workers that are on the ground in the workforce, and that’s our goal, that’s what we’re doing.”

The minor will be on the fall courses list even though marijuana is still illegal in the state.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo said he wants to legalize it for recreational use this year.
