NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Get ready to dig deeper when you hail a car in the city.
Cabbies woke up to the news Friday that the congestion pricing surcharge for 'for hire' vehicles is going to be going into effect, but it's unclear when, 1010 WINS' Glenn Schuck reported.
A court made the decision overnight that the $2.50 per ride surcharge should proceed.
Uber and Lyft are going to put the increase into effect today and will pass the increase on to customers immediately. Although unclear of how much the charge will be, it will be based on the length of your trip, Schuck reported.
The increase also has to do with the new minimum wage for drivers.
Needless to say, passengers aren't too happy.
