White House coronavirus task force to hold briefing Friday – its first in nearly 2 months

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The White House coronavirus task force on Friday afternoon will hold its first briefing with reporters in nearly two months.

The briefing, to be led by Vice President Mike Pence, will take place at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

It is unclear if Dr. Anthony Fauci or Dr. Deborah Birx will be at the briefing.

Pence will lead a meeting with the task force in the morning.

The briefing comes as several states -- including hotspots Florida, Texas and California -- experience an uptick in coronavirus cases, prompting Gov. Andrew Cuomo to impose a quarantine on people arriving from those states.

The last briefing was on April 27, shortly after President Trump suggested ingesting chemicals to rid the body of the potentially-deadly virus.
