NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- TikTok's supremacy is about to be challenged, as word comes that YouTube is planning to launch a competitor called Shorts.
The short-form video competitor will be housed in YouTube's existing mobile app, NBC reported, citing a source familiar with the matter.
It is slated for release this year.
According to The Information, which first reported it, Shorts will allow users to create short videos to various songs YouTube has licensed.
