1010 WINS (NEW YORK) While New Yorkers have been hunkering down amid the coronavirus pandemic, Animal Care Centers of New York City has continued it's mission to rescue, care for and place shelter animals in loving homes.

Hundreds of New York's Kindest have come forward to serve as foster volunteers and 1010 WINS is proud to team with ACC to feature some of these adoptable dogs, cats and rabbits.

This week, meet Blue Bear, Darla & Coqui:

Got questions about ACC's current adoption process?  Here are some answers:

  • Is ACC still doing adoptions? How can I adopt?

ACC is currently doing adoptions through their website and email. All available animals are listed on our website or app (nycacc.org/app). If you a boroughbred you like, email adopt@nycacc.org or click the “Adopt Me” button to start the adoption process!

  • Can I meet an animal before adopting?

Once you are approved to adopt, they will arrange an interaction that complies with social distancing recommendations. If the animal is at one of the care centers, they will schedule a time for you to come in and meet the animal. If the animal is in foster care, they'll coordinate a time for you to meet the animal in a way that is comfortable with both you and the foster.

  • I’ve been applying for animals and haven’t been able to adopt yet - what can I do?

For the first time, they have more applications than animals! They're still doing adoptions on a first-come, first-served basis. Please keep checking the website for new animals and apply when you see someone new you are interested in!
