Brooklyn woman hit by stray bullet while lying in bed early New Year's Day: NYPD

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A stray bullet hit a woman in the leg as she was lying in her bed in Brooklyn early on New Year’s Day, the NYPD said.

The 33-year-old woman was lying in bed inside her apartment on Lincoln Avenue, near Sutter Avenue, in East New York around 12:07 a.m. on Friday when someone fired a gun outside, police said.

A bullet from the gun whizzed through the woman’s second-story window and hit her in the left leg, the NYPD said.

She was taken to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center in stable condition after the shooting, police said.

No one has been arrested in connection with the shooting. An investigation is ongoing.
