VIDEO: Subway conductor punched in face in unprovoked attack as train boarded in Brooklyn

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police are searching for the man they believe randomly punched an MTA train conductor in the face over the weekend in Brooklyn.

According to officials, the 38-year-old woman was working on a southbound M train just before 6:30 a.m. on Saturday when she was attacked at the Prospect Park subway station.

An unknown man approached the victim and punched her in the face in an unprovoked attack while the train was boarding passengers in the station, authorities said.

The attacker then exited the station on foot to parts unknown, police said.

The woman suffered pain and bruising to the face.

EMS responded to the station but she refused medical attention at the scene.

Police described the man wanted for questioning to be about 20-30 years of age.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
