NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police were called to a Staten Island home after a 50-year-old man cut off his penis on Wednesday and reportedly threw it in a toilet at his Staten Island apartment, officials said.
According to the New York Post, the man’s roommate called the police at approximately 11:45 a.m. and told them that the man had cut his own arm.
Responding officers found the man with a self-inflicted wound to his right arm inside the Main Street apartment in the Tottenville neighborhood.
He later told EMTs that he had cut off his penis and discarded it in an upstairs toilet the report adds.
Investigators found a large amount of blood inside the second-floor bathroom and first responders were able to confirm that the man’s genitals were gone, according to the report.
The man told police he is bipolar and schizophrenic and has been without his medication for several months, sources told the Post.
It is still unclear if his genitalia were found.
