NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- New York City Council Speaker Corey Johnson’s beloved cat went missing on Monday — but the two were reunited not long after the politician turned to Twitter for help finding the feline.
Mousse, a male, microchipped cat, escaped from Johnson’s boyfriend’s apartment in Williamsburg, near S. 9th Street and Bedford Avenue, around 2 p.m. on Monday, Johnson tweeted Monday evening.
An hour later, the speaker shared the good news that Mousse was home safe again.
"Thank you for all of your help and concern!" he wrote on Twitter. "I've been shaking all evening but am so relieved and grateful!"
Johnson has tweeted about Mousse frequently over the past few years, including during the early weeks of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The feline was also featured alongside him in the New York Times’ “Sunday Routine” column in 2018.
“So grateful for our pets during this time,” he wrote on March 21. “So thankful for Cote (dog) and Mousse (cat) and their love for me and my boyfriend and also their love for each other.”
