NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A pair of thieves pretending to be customers stole a dozen cufflinks worth around $15,000 from a jewelry store in the Diamond District, the NYPD said.
The two men walked into Diamonds By Siag, on West 47th Street between 5th and 6th avenues, around 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday and asked an employee to see a selection of bracelets and cufflinks, police said.
When the employee wasn’t looking, one of the men reached over the counter and swiped a tray filled with 12 cufflinks, surveillance footage from inside the store shows.
The men left the store with the cufflinks not long after, the NYPD said.
Police are now searching for the two men, both of whom were last seen wearing black clothing, black baseball caps and blue face masks.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
