NJ reports 5 new COVID-19 deaths, 823 new cases after 3 days above 900 cases

TRENTON, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- New Jersey reported 823 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, after reporting more than 900 new cases for three straight days, Gov. Phil Murphy said.

The new positive test results pushed the state’s cumulative case total to 217,804, Murphy tweeted.

New Jersey reported 973 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, 953 on Wednesday, 993 on Tuesday and 478 on Monday.

Murphy on Friday also reported five new COVID-19 fatalities, bringing the state’s death toll to 14,413.

As of Thursday, 728 people in the state were hospitalized with confirmed or probable COVID-19 cases, 178 of whom were in intensive care and 60 of whom were on ventilators.
