Even though Gio punted one of his picks last week, he still went 2-2…and with The Booms going 0-4, Gregg has wrapped up the overall championship, with an insurmountable six-game lead with three left in the NFL season.
Jerry can still mathematically catch Boomer for the silver, though, so we PLAY ON with championship weekend picks!
First, the current standings (last week in parenthesis):
Gio: 46-44 (2-2)
Boomer: 40-50 (0-4)
Jerry: 37-53 (2-2)
NFC: Tampa Bay at Green Bay (-3.5)
Gio: Green Bay
Boomer: Green Bay
Jerry: Tampa Bay
Old Man Boomer’s take: “I agree with you Gio, and one of the reasons is because of what I saw from the Packers last week. Green Bay was pushed around by San Francisco last year in the NFC Title Game, but that won’t happen this year. They have three running backs who sledgehammer it up in there, and their defense is underrated with two guys in the secondary who could’ve been All-Pro.”
AFC: Buffalo at Kansas City (-3)
Boomer: Kansas City
Jerry: Kansas City
Young Man Gio’s take: “I’m gonna make this about me! I’ve seen lots of Chiefs games, and I had too much heartburn and agita with them this year. That’s why I ended up picking Cleveland last week – now you’re going to tell me Patrick Mahomes might not be 100 percent, and you’re running into a buzzsaw that is the Buffalo Bills, whose defense played so well last week? I believe this is next step time for Buffalo, and I think they are going to the bleeping Super Bowl! Packers and Bills!”
BONUS COMBO TAKE from Middle-Aged Jerry: “You saw Joe Montana go to Kansas City and never get over the hump, but I think Tom Brady does it with Tampa Bay…and ends up playing that Kansas City team. I am taking the Chiefs…Brady vs. Mahomes, and it will be the changing of the guard!”
