DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Dallas Cowboys strength and conditioning coach Markus Paul "is in the process of undergoing further medical tests" after he experienced a medical emergency on Tuesday morning, the organization announced in a statement, via Jane Slater of the NFL Network.

The Cowboys say Paul was treated by medical personnel at The Star in Frisco and was rushed to a local hospital by ambulance.

The team says more information will be made available at the appropriate time.

Paul has been with the Cowboys since 2018. He's in his 21 season as an NFL assistant strength and conditioning coach this year. He previously spent time working in a similar capacity with the Giants, Saints and Patriots.

Paul was a former standout at Syracuse and was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the fourth round of the 1989 NFL Draft. The former All-American played five seasons in the NFL with the Bears and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Cowboys canceled practice and all media availabilities this morning for coach Mike McCarthy and players due the serious nature of Paul's condition.

This is a developing news story.
