Brian May of Queen Asks the Greatest Guitarist in the World to Join Him for 'Bohemian Rhapsody'

It was an epic take on the Queen classic

It wasn’t quite real life and it sure wasn’t fantasy, but a new video featuring an all-star group of guitarists has given an epic take on an iconic track.

Queen guitarist Brian May was joined by Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen, Zakk Wylde, Nuno Bettencourt, and Tosin Abasi for a socially distant rendition of “Bohemian Rhapsody.”

The performance was part of Bettencourt’s AXS TV special At Home and Social With Nuno Bettencourt & Friends. The special premiered on Monday and certainly kicked off with an impressive performance.

May’s appearance was certainly a surprise as he didn’t pop up until two minutes into the video. Vai, Malmsteen, Wylde, Bettencourt, and Abasi all toured together in 2018 and would perform the Queen classic during their set.

It’s great to see May playing guitar again as he recently revealed he suffered a small heart attack.

"It's not something that did me any harm," he said at the time. "It was about 40 minutes of pain in the chest and tightness, and that feeling in the arms and sweating."

After he underwent an angiogram, doctors discovered three congested arteries and gave him the choice of having open-heart surgery or having stents placed in the blood vessels.

May opted for the stents and after undergoing a procedure, he said “"I walked out with a heart that's very strong now, so I think I'm in good shape for some time to come.”
