Could Tom Bergeron return as 'Dancing With the Stars' host?

Fans have been awaiting the rumored return of Tom Bergeron as host of "Dancing With the Stars." But they'll have to wait quite some time for it...possibly forever.

Bergeron announced his exit from the dance show back in July after 15 years with the network program. His co-host, Erin Andrews, also made her exit. The two were replaced by Tyra Banks for Season 29.

After various Twitter threads from "DWTS" fans hoping for Bergeron's return, the former host revealed in a TV Guide interview that they may have to wait a while for that to ever be the case again.

"When people say, 'I'm not gonna watch until you're back,' I say, 'Well, there's really no 'until' here,'" Bergeron said. "This train has left the station."

Bergeron went on to say that he doesn't blame anyone for continuing to watch the show despite it having a new host. "I appreciate the sentiment. I don't hold it against anybody if they [watch]."

In the same interview, Bergeron outlined some of his favorite memories from hosting the show for years, noting that it was the friendships he made that he really cherishes.

"I used to throw midseason parties for cast and staff," he said. "It helped create a sense of solidarity...and then we'd try to sober up the next day."

Bergeron was relieved of his "Dancing With the Stars" duties earlier this year and took to social media with the announcement of his departure.

"Just informed [Dancing With the Stars] will be continuing without me. It's been an incredible 15 year run and the most unexpected gift of my career," Bergeron shared at the time.

"I'm grateful for that and for the lifelong friendships made. That said, now what am I supposed to do with all of these glitter masks?" he concluded.
