Okay, so the nominees for the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards have been announced and while this year we see additions of Best Music Video from Home and Best Quarantine Performance, still the most talked about and yearned for of all is the award for Music Video of the Year. But which video do you think is going to go the distance and win the oh so coveted moon person?

Will it be another big night for Billie? Does Taylor take the top spot yet again? Can anyone match the blinding lights of The Weeknd, or deal with the duo that is Ariana and Lady Gaga?

Complete List of the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards Nominees

If you ask us, all nominees pose as formidable opponents, but only one can end the night as a champion. As festivities will be taking place at the end of this month, we mustn't wait to cast our vote. Sufficed to say, we wouldn’t dare take the act of voting lightly, simply just picking without weighing out all of our choices is not an option.

Thus, we have taken it upon ourselves to meticulously review each nominee in order to better help ourselves, and whoever else might need it, to make a qualified and calculated decision.

everything i wanted - Billie Eilish

This hauntingly beautiful music video is the collaborative brain-child of Billie and her brother FINNEAS, as an ode to their relationship. The video opens with a dedication from Billie to her brother - “finneas is my brother and my best friend. no matter the circumstance, we always have and always will be there for each other.” Despite representing a message of hope, the video has quite a melancholy vibe, and features the singer and her brother riding in a car together. Overall the video stays right on brand, representing the Billie we’ve grown to know and become obsessed with.

Godzilla - Eminem ft. Juice WRLD

Eminem has always had his own secret recipe when it comes to making music videos, with mostly each being more entertainingly absurd than the next. As to be expected, Em doesn’t disappoint with this one. Just some of the many highlights include a sucker punch from Mike Tyson, being operated on by himself and Dr. Dre, some casual fire breathing and a tribute to Juice WRLD, as the late artist is featured on the track. We’d have to say that the combination of this fire beat and shocking visuals make it hard to forget, not that we'd want to.

Life Is Good - Future ft. Drake

Have you ever wondered what life would be like if Drake and Future were just your everyday average Joes, working a shmegular 9 to 5. Yeah, us either, but to be honest it was beyond hilarious to see. In this video Drake and Future are clearly in some type of alternate universe, where they work as garbage men, salesmen at an Apple alternative, Peach (insert wink emoji), as car mechanics and employees at a fast food chain. We also see them putting in work as some occupation in IT as well chefs, all of which is weaved in between the musicians as their true selves dancing on what we can only assume to be an astronomically priced light up dance floor. What’s not to love?

Rain On Me - Lady Gaga with Ariana Grande

In this lavish display of sugary pop goodness, Gaga and Ari transport us to a futuristic post-apocalyptic rave filled with animated rain, butterfly wings, epic eyeliner and impossibly long ponytails that literally give us life. From the 90’s aesthetic and feel good dance move to the pink-hued urban landscape and the PVC platform boots we can say with 100 percent certainty, that this is what music video dreams are made of.

The Man - Taylor Swift

So we’d like to start off by saying we have a crush on Taylor Swift, whether she’s a woman or a man. Putting our feelings aside, in this music video, Taylor is making one very important statement highlighting the double standards between men and women. Throughout Swift calls out practically every type of sexist double standard that you can think of, as her male alter ego yells at coworkers, throws a tantrum on a tennis court, and hangs out with scantily clad models and strippers. In one scene in particular it shows a subway wall covered with the graffitied titles of Taylor Swift's previous albums, including Speak Now, Red, Reputation, Fearless, and 1989, with a sign that reads,”Missing: If Found Return to Taylor Swift.” Ya’ll know the dramz so no need to rehash it here. Moral of the story our girl’s got balls and most definitely a more than deserving music video.

Blinding Lights - The Weeknd

In the opening scene of this video we see The Weeknd is laughing as blood drips down his face, then the visual jumps back in time to reveal the havoc that ensued to lead him there. We follow him as he wanders through brightly lit deserted streets, drives his car recklessly fast and dances like no-ones watching. The singer then finds himself stumbling into a lounge and floating up to a singer, eventually getting into a fight with a pair of bouncers. Honestly, Abel is giving us major 80’s villain vibes, and don’t get us wrong, we’re here for it as well as this fast paced and undeniably masochistic video.

Okay, we think we know which one we’re voting for. One category down, now only 14 more to go. Can’t wait to tune in to MTV for this year's VMAs on Sunday, August 30 to see if our choices came out on top. Cast your vote below.
