Frank Iero And The Future Violents are currently making their way across the country, playing their raw and raucous new album Barriers. It’s a cool new chapter for the former My Chemical Romance guitarist, but rumors of a reunion for The Black Parade band never seem to stop.
The latest came from an unlikely source. Earlier this year as the Jonas Brothers were rolling out their own reunion, Joe Jonas mentioned that he heard MCR rehearsing in New York. “I got some dirt,” Jonas offered up on the UK’s KISS FM. “My Chemical Romance apparently were rehearsing next to us in New York recently, which I thought they broke up, so I don’t know. That’s the gossip.”

The comments caught fire leading to a hill of headlines about My Chemical Romance returning. This week, Iero responded to Jonas, during an interview on the Zach Sang Show. “I don’t understand why you would do an interview about your band and talk about someone else’s band” Iero explained. “I think they’re trying to rebrand their band as a real rock band and they’re trying to mention as many rock bands and trying to get, like, synonymous with other things.”
“People aren’t gonna forget that you’re a Disney band, bro. Sorry, it’s not gonna happen.”
As for the actual reunion, there’s been no confirmation of rehearsals or plans moving forward. “Anything is possible,” Iero said, noting that he recently survived a bus accident in Australia. The guitarist was dragged and damaged his shoulder, but he is still able to play.
My Chemical Romance broke up in March of 2013.
