Jessica Simpson is opening up about her skincare struggles.
In a new interview, the 40-year-old disclosed how eczema flare-ups after giving birth to daughter Birdie in 2019 caused her to feel embarrassed to share photos with her bundle of joy.
“I’ve dealt with eczema since I was a kid, but after having my daughter Birdie, I had such bad flare-ups,” the "Open Book" author told Shape. “I wouldn’t even show the pictures of me holding her to my friends.”
Simpson found relief using topical ointments and anti-inflammatory red-light treatment.
“During this [coronavirus] pandemic, I’ve gone down a skincare rabbit hole, and I’ve been using a red-light therapy mask,” Simpson shared.
“I’m obsessed with doing red-light therapy treatments at home. I place the anti-inflammatory device everywhere on my body, including my scalp, stomach and boobs.”
Her regimen has even led to some age-defying perks. “I have fewer wrinkles at 40 than I did at 38,” she added.
Simpson, who shares three children with husband Eric Johnson, previously discussed her journey with eczema.
"After I had Birdie, I had an eczema flare that was a lot more intense than I had ever experienced before," the “Private Affair” singer told People.
"Eric was taking pictures and I was like, 'You cannot send those to anybody. I cannot believe the bumps on my arms.' And I called my doctor immediately. He prescribed Eucrisa. And I will say that in two weeks it worked incredibly.”
