Beyoncé's upcoming visual album, inspired by "The Lion King: The Gift" soundtrack, is set to debut on Disney+ at the end of the month. Now, the star is revealing new details about what the album will look like.
In a new trailer released for the album, guests like Tina Knowles-Lawson, Lupita N'yongo, and Naomi Campbell are revealed.
It will also star all of the soundtrack's featured artists and special guests, including Childish Gambino, Kendrick Lamar, and Pharrell.
"You were formed by the heat of the galaxy," Beyoncé says at one point in the trailer. "What a thing to be, both unique and familiar. To be one and the same, and still unlike any other.
Disney reports that the album "reimagines the lessons from the 2019 blockbuster for today's young kings and queens searching for their crowns."
"'Black Is King' is a celebratory memoir for the world on the Black experience," the statement reads.
The original minute-long trailer, which is narrated by Beyoncé, features cameos from husband Jay-Z as well as their children Blue Ivy, Rumi, and Sir. It's inspired by visuals from "The Lion King."
Beyoncé is named as the writer, director, and executive producer on the project. She is joined by collaborators Jake Nava and Kwasi Fordjour. The pair worked on Beyoncé's first visual album in 2013 and her Parkwood Entertainment company respectively.
"Black Is King" will be released on July 31 for streaming on Disney+. The visual album will also be screened in African countries such as Nigeria, Ghana, Ethiopia, Namibia, Cameroon, Liberia, Burundi, Senegal, Somalia, Benin, Congo, Kenya, Zimbabwe, South Africa, and more.
