DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Jim Montgomery is scratching Alexander Radulov for tonight's game against the Winnipeg Jets, according to Mike Heika of Dallastars.com.

Alexander Radulov is a healthy scratch tonight. He's second in the NHL with 15 minor penalties, and he took key penalties that were turned into power play goals against both Minnesota and Winnipeg. With the Stars in need of structure right now, message is being sent.

When asked by the media following the team's morning skate why he was scratching Radulov from the lineup, Montgomery said, "we're trying to do what we think is best for the Dallas Stars."

Heika reports the reason for Radulov's benching is his knack for taking too many penalties. The right-winger is second in the NHL with 15 minor penalties, and two of them led to power play goals in the Stars losses against Minnesota and the Jets.

The 33-year-old has eight goals and 15 points in 29 games this season. He hasn't recorded a point during the team's current four-game losing streak.
