Dak Prescott On If He's Worth $40 Million Per Year? "You Tell Me"

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - As we continue to debate on 105.3 The Fan about what the Cowboys should do with Dak Prescott's contract status, the quarterback took his turn to speak on the latest contract negotiations.
In a sit down with Kimberley A. Martin of Yahoo Sports, Prescott was asked if he believed he was worth a contract with an annual salary of $40 million, which would make him the highest-paid player in NFL history?

"You tell me," Prescott said before adding that he trusts his agents and the Cowboys to get something done. Prescott wasn't asked about the possibility of being franchise-tagged, or if he believed a deal would get done prior to March 10, the deadline for teams to tag a player. 

If the Cowboys placed the franchise tag on Prescott it wouldn't prohibit them from continuing to negotiate a new contract in the offseason.

When asked during the week leading up to the Super Bowl if he would show up to offseason activities were he to be tagged, Prescott declined to commit to it.

“We’ll get to that when we get to that,” Prescott said during an appearance in Miami. “I look forward to talking to my agents and when that [tag> comes to play, the direction that we’ll go. Until that’s a reality, I won’t worry about it.”

Prescott was then asked if he was planning on spending a lot of time in Frisco in the coming months, and he said he wasn't. 

“Report that,” Prescott added. “Be sure to report that.”

Later that week, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the Cowboys were "likely" to use the tag on Prescott. 
105.3 The Fan's Mike Fisher has reported that the Cowboys and Prescott "were close" to a deal last season and that the quarterback didn't ask for $40 million annually.
