Mike Bacsik, a Dallas native and former big league pitcher for the Indians, Mets, Rangers, and Nationals has been in the Dallas/Ft. Worth sports radio market since 2008. As Mike’s baseball career was coming to a close in 2008, 1310 sports hired him as a weekend & fill-in host. From 2009 to 2010 Mike was hired as the producer of “The Norm Hitzges Show” in Dallas.
Mike was hired at 105.3 “The Fan” in September of 2011 as the Texas Rangers insider. Performing in numerous ways at The Fan as a host after Rangers games on “The Unofficial Post Game Show” with The G-Bag Nation and filling-in on New-School, Elf & Slater, and The Ben & Skin Show when needed.
In 1996 Bacsik was drafted out of Duncanville High School by the Cleveland Indians in the 18th round. Mike decided to forgo his scholarship at Texas Tech University and start his professional baseball career. In 2001, Mike was named the Minor League Pitcher of the Year with the Cleveland Indians and made his major league debut against the Seattle Mariners. He was traded after the 2001 season to the New York Mets for 5 players. The Indians also threw in Hall of Famer Roberto Alomar to even out the trade. In 2004 Mike signed with his hometown team the Texas Rangers. Bacsik became the 1st son of a Texas Ranger to play for the Texas Rangers (Mike Bacsik Sr. 1975-77). Mike made it back to the Big Leagues in 2007 for the Washington Nationals. On August 7th, 2007 Mike went into the history books as Barry Bonds hit his 756thcareer homerun breaking Hank Aaron’s record.
Mike graduated The University of Texas at Arlington in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in University Studies. He is married to Susan Bacsik and they have 3 children, Mary Grace, Jake and Cal.
