McCarthy smashed watermelons with a sledgehammer to fire up Cowboys for Vikings game

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Cowboys appeared to have some 'extra juice' when they beat the red-hot Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.

It appears some of the credit for the Cowboys performance should be given to head coach Mike McCarthy for not only his coaching, but also for what he did prior to the game.

Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network reports that McCarthy rolled out watermelons during a team meeting on Saturday night and used his inner-Gallagher to smash each one.

Each watermelon represented one of the team's objectives for the game, and after McCarthy called out the objective he smashed them to pieces with a sledgehammer.

The message apparently stuck with the team as Pelissero reports that players were "roaring" as he smashed each one, and even DeMarcus Lawrence got involved in the fun, smashing the one with the objective of stopping Vikings running back Dalvin Cook.
