Mavs Luka Doncic named Western Conference Player of the Week

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic was named Western Conference Player of the Week on Monday, due to his lights-out play ranging from Monday, January 4th to Sunday, January 10th.

It is the second time in his career that Doncic has taken home the award.

Over that week, the 21-year-old led Dallas to a 3-0 record, averaging 30.3 point, 11.3 assist, 12 rebound triple-double, and finished just one rebound shy of three consecutive triple doubles in those games.

In his January 7th matchup against the Denver Nuggets, Doncic led the team to a 124-117 overtime win on the road, scoring 38 points to go along with 13 assists, nine rebounds, and five steals and becoming the first player in NBA history to reach each of those stat lines together in the same game.

Through eight games this season, Doncic is averaging 26.6 points, 9.3 rebounds and 8.3 assists per game.

Doncic has led Dallas to a three-game win streak, and a 4-1 mark since the New Year, but will have to wait to get back on the court, as the team's next matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday night was postponed due to COVID-19 complications.
