A wastewater overflow from a manhole near Springwood Cemetary on North Main Street has flowed into and contaminated a creek in McPherson Park.

The City of Greenville said in a press release that the overflow was caused by a wastewater main blockage.

The blockage has been cleared by city crews which stopped the wastewater flowing into the creek. They are now working to cleanup the creek.

Signs have been installed to mark the likely contaminated areas.

The S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control was notified and has begun collecting water samples for testing.
