Information provided by Lt. Patrick Fortenberry from the Greer Police Department:
The Greer Police Department will host its 31st annual Cops for Tots program on Saturday, December 14th.
The event will take place at the Cannon Centre located at 204 Cannon Street in Greer starting at 9 am.
The Cops for Tots program started in 1988 when officers with the Greer Police Department bought and delivered presents to one family in the Sunnyside Community.
Every year since, the Greer Police Department has partnered with the Greer community in providing Christmas presents to underprivileged children so that no child is left without presents on Christmas Day.
In 2018 the Greer Police Department was able to provide presents for more than 200 children in the Greater Greer area.
“The Cops for Tots program truly encompasses the Greer Police Department’s belief that Policing is a Partnership.
Without the support and generosity of our community members and local businesses this program would not be the success that it is.
Through the partnerships we have fostered many children in our community will have presents to play with on Christmas Day.
This is a relationship building event that creates positive memories with those that this program touches,” said Lieutenant Patrick Fortenberry.
