Friends of the Reedy River is bringing their fall river cleanup to your home!
Greenville, SC (September 21, 2020) – Friends of the Reedy River (FoRR) is bringing their fall river cleanup to your home!
Friends of the Reedy River plans to activate the community for an at-home cleanup during the timeframe of October 3- October 17.
FoRR will have a limited number of cleanup kits that can be requested and borrowed for your cleanup.
This event is made possible through SynTerra Corp’s sponsorship and support from the City of Greenville and Greenville County.
Friends of the Reedy River hosts at least two large cleanup events each year, along with organizing smaller cleanups for businesses and communities to get involved.
Due to the health & safety concerns associated with COVID-19, the organization has decided to have groups conduct their own cleanups at home.
FoRR is extremely excited for this new platform because it allows groups to do a cleanup at a time that is convenient for them while also expanding FoRR’s reach throughout the Reedy River watershed.
FoRR aims to activate citizens from the headwaters of the Reedy River in Travelers Rest all the way to Lake Greenwood where the Reedy and the Saluda River meet.
Cleanup kits are available on a first-come, first-serve basis, however, FoRR will do their best to ensure that the maximum number of groups are served.
Cleanup kits will consist of a 5-gallon bucket, trash bags, trash grabbers, gloves, complimentary t-shirt created by Dapper Ink, and other goodies from FoRR partners.
To better serve the community and accommodate groups throughout the watershed, cleanup kits can be picked up in Travelers Rest, downtown Greenville, and near Mauldin during the cleanup period.
Groups can register & request their cleanup kit at: bit.ly/forrcleanupathome
