Released by the Cherokee County Coroner's Office.

Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler says a North Carolina man died after being struck by a vehicle while walking on the shoulder of a road near Blacksburg early today.

Fowler identified the victim as Ethan Skylar Arrowood, 27, of 113 Byron Place, Grover.

“Arrowood and another man ran out of fuel in the vehicle in which they were traveling late Thursday night near Piney Knob Drive in Gaffney. The two began walking  north on West Cherokee Street about 12:05 a.m. today when a vehicle, also headed north, struck them from behind.  Arrowood died at the scene while the other man suffered non-life threatening injuries,” Fowler said.

Fowler said an autopsy has been ordered to assist with his investigation that is continuing along with that of the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
