The Coroner's office is investigating the death of a Greenville County coach and schoolteacher.

Eric Cummings died at his home in Lyman, Tuesday.

He had been on administrative leave from his job as track-and-cross country coach at Riverside High School in Greer since September 3rd.

Greenville County School officials did not the disclose the reason for that, but Spokesman Tim Waller says grief counselors are available for Riverside students.

A tweet from Spartanburg County Coroner Rusty Clevenger confirms his office is, in his words, "working the death. "

Cummings has coached the Riverside Warriors since 2006 winning seven state championships.

He was named National Cross-Country Coach of the Year in 2017.
