The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Westminster man on multiple charges yesterday, including a charge of Trafficking in Methamphetamine.
40 year old Derek Wayne Gibson of Earles Grove Road was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 2:39pm Thursday.
Gibson also had outstanding arrest warrants on charges of Grand Larceny and Third Degree Burglary in relation to a separate incident.
Investigators from the Criminal Investigations Division received information late yesterday morning that Gibson was located at an address on Shady Lane near Westminster.
After arriving on scene, Gibson was located and placed under arrest without incident on the outstanding warrants.
A quantity of Methamphetamine was located on the person of Gibson.
Based upon the amount of narcotics seized, an Investigator was able to obtain an arrest warrant charging Gibson with drug trafficking.
The burglary and larceny warrants stem from an incident that occurred on July 24th of this year at the same Shady Lane address where Gibson was arrested yesterday.
According to the arrest warrants obtained by Investigators, Gibson entered a building on the property at the Shady Lane address and stole an orange 1999 Harley Davidson motorcycle.
The motorcycle was valued at approximately $5,500.00
At this time, Gibson remains in custody at the Oconee County Detention Center on a combined $70,000 surety bond.
The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
