Time is almost up for registering to receive your $1,200 stimulus check.
For those who haven’t received their money and don’t normally file taxes, the IRS deadline for claiming your check is Saturday, November 21st at 3pm ET, reported CBS News.
According to the agency, college students and low-income individuals are the ones most likely to have not claimed their federal payments.
Earlier this year, the IRS revealed nearly nine million people had yet to claim their benefits, with many unaware they were eligible to receive the stimulus aid.
To register, the IRS has set up an online Non-Filers tool to qualify for the $1200 stimulus check.
"The Non-Filers tool is designed for people with incomes typically below $24,400 for married couples, and $12,200 for singles, who could not be claimed as a dependent by someone else," the agency said on Thursday. "This includes couples and individuals who are experiencing homelessness."
However, people who were required to file income taxes in 2018 or 2019 should not use the Non-Filers tool.
"For those who haven't filed a 2019 tax return, or it has not been processed yet, the IRS used the information from the 2018 tax return to calculate the amount and issued a payment," the agency added. "The IRS is not able to correct or issue additional payments at this time and will provide further details on IRS.gov on the action people may need to take in the future."
The stimulus payments were authorized in March as part of the CARES Act. Under the law, eligible individuals received $1,200, while married couples were allowed up to $2,400, with an additional $500 for each dependent under 17.
The status of a second round of stimulus checks still remains up in the air as negotiations between the White House and Congress have stalled.
