Lady Gaga scored her sixth number-one album on the Billboard chart with the release of her smash record Chromatica.

The achievement marks her sixth number-one album in the span of nine years, the fastest for any female artist.

While Gaga has made chart history in a short period of time, she still has a way to go get the top spot as the female artist with the most number one albums.

Here’s a look at the list of female artists with the most number one albums in history.

Britney Spears

8 Britney Spears - Six

Spears had a fiery start to her career with her first four albums going number one. She had a renaissance in the late 2000’s with two consecutive number one records.

Mariah Carey

7 Mariah Carey - Six

Carey had a rhythmic beginning of her career alternating number one albums with four of her first six records getting the top spot.

Beyonce

6 Beyoncé - Six

Although she doesn’t have the most number one albums, Beyoncé holds the impressive feat of having every single one of her solo albums get the top spot on the charts.

Taylor Swift

5 Taylor Swift - Six

Like Lady Gaga, Swift has had a rapid ascent up the list with every album aside from her self-titled debut record getting the number one spot on the charts.

Lady Gaga

4 Lady Gaga - Six

Remarkably, Gaga has only had one album not gain the top spot on the charts. That would be her debut album The Fame, which “only” made it up to the second spot.

Janet Jackson

3 Janet Jackson - Seven

Jackson had an incredible run between 1986 and 2001 of five straight albums reaching the number one spot including All for You, The Velvet Rope, janet., Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation 1814, and Control. Her two most recent records Unbreakable and Discipline have charted in the number one spot.

Madonna

2 Madonna - Nine

Madonna stands in second place with a total of nine albums taking the number one spot on the charts. She had a string of three straight number one albums in the 80s with Like a Virgin, True Blue, and Like a Prayer.

Barabra Streisand

1 Barabra Streisand - Eleven

Streisand takes the top spot not only as the female artist with the most number one albums, but also one of the best-selling recording artists of all time. Only JAY-Z and The Beatles have recorded more number one albums than Streisand.
