(670 The Score) Bears defensive lineman Mario Edwards Jr. was suspended for the first two games of the 2021 regular season for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing drugs, the league said Friday.

Edwards, who had four sacks for the Bears this past season, is set to become an unrestricted free agent. He was signed to Chicago's roster in September and played in 15 games.

Edwards, 26, was charged with assault for an alleged incident that took place in Charlotte on Oct. 17, the night before the Bears' road game against the Panthers. Through his agent, Edwards denied the allegations to TMZ, which first reported the alleged incident in December.
