(670 The Score) The Cubs added three players to their 40-man roster Friday afternoon.

Chicago selected the contracts of right-hander Cory Abbott from Single-A Myrtle Beach, right-hander Keegan Thompson from Single-A Mrytle Beach and infielder Christopher Morel from Single-A South Bend. The moves bring their 40-man roster to 37 players.

Abbott, 25, had a 3.01 ERA and 1.12 WHIP in 26 starts at Double-A Tennessee in 2019 before the coronavirus pandemic wiped out the 2020 minor league season.

Thompson, 25, had a 3.60 ERA and 0.50 WHIP in 10 innings across three appearances across rookie ball and Double-A in 2019, when he dealt with injury. Morel, 21, hit .284 with six homer, 31 RBIs and a .787 OPS in 73 games at South Bend in 2019.
