CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – Indians manager Terry Francona will likely miss the upcoming two-game series in Cincinnati Monday and Tuesday.

Francona returned to Cleveland Sunday after experiencing gastrointestinal discomfort causing him to miss the 3-1 loss to the Twins.

“He’s doing OK,” team president Chris Antonetti said after the game.

Francona has been dealing with the ailment since summer camp and he will be examined at the Cleveland Clinic on Monday according to Antonetti.

“Our priority is making sure Tito gets checked out,” Antonetti said. “We’ll reassess things from there.

“I think it’s reasonable to conclude that he may not join us in Cincinnati.”

With the series being just two games, Francona will stay home.

“For him to join us, he would then have to fly from Cleveland back to Cincinnati, which for only a two-game series, I’m not sure that would make a ton of sense,” Antonetti said.

First base coach Sandy Alomar managed Sunday and will continue to do so in Francona’s absence.
