CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – What was supposed to be a mere formality became official Tuesday afternoon – Odell Beckham was placed on injured reserve, ending his season.
Beckham suffered a torn ACL on the second offensive snap of Sunday’s 37-34 win at Cincinnati chasing down Bengals cornerback Darius Phillips, who had just intercepted Baker Mayfield’s pass which was intended for Beckham.
Beckham appeared to get upended at the end of the play when he collided with Browns fullback Andy Janovich in midair, buckling his left knee.
An MRI confirmed the injury Monday but no date for surgery has been set.
Beckham played his first season in Cleveland with a core muscle injury that he underwent surgery for in February.
The Browns acquired Beckham in March 2019 from the New York Giants.
He finishes the season with 23 catches for 319 yards and three touchdowns to go along with 3 carries for 72 yards and a score.
