After months of leaving fans tossing and turning, the Philadelphia Phillies reached a long-term agreement to re-sign catcher J.T. Realmuto Tuesday.
Craig Mish of SportsGrid was the first to report the deal, which will pay Realmuto $115.5 over five seasons. The two-time All-Star catcher secured a $23.1 million averaged annual value in the deal, allowing him to set a new high watermark for his position.
Understandably, news of the deal lit up social media, eliciting positive responses from some of Realmuto's teammate, and quite a few Phillies fans:
