Who's the next Larry Legend?

Who's the next guy that will post monstrous numbers year in and year out? On both good teams -- such as when the 2009 Cardinals went 10-6 and Fitzgerald caught 97 balls and led the league with 13 touchdowns -- and on bad teams -- like when Fitz led the league with 103 receptions, went for 1,409 yards and scored 10 TDs for the 5-11 Cardinals in 2005? Who's going to be the perennial fan favorite that remains with his team for nearly two decades?

One guy who seems to be off to that type of start? Terry McLaurin. And it's Fitzgerald who is the latest on a long list of players and analysts who have lauded Washington's second-year phenom.

"The best is yet to come for this young man," Fitzgerald wrote in a caption on an Instagram photo. "Keep grinding & perfecting your craft... you’re putting the league on notice."

McLaurin has already checked off the box that requires a tremendous performance on a bad team. What's more impressive is that he did it as a rookie on a team that was arguably worse than any of Fitzgerald's Cardinals teams, as Washington's offense scored the fewest points of any in the NFL in 2019. Still, he managed to go for 919 yards and seven touchdowns. His 2020 campaign has gotten off to a good start, as well, with 186 yards and a score after two weeks, which included a 125-yard performance against Fitzgerald's squad.

Overall, it's been a crazy fast start.

But we can't say we didn't see a further breakout coming. After all, Pro Football Focus literally told us to "set higher expectations" for McLaurin entering year two, as he ranked in the top ten in PFF's receiving grades (via Austin Gayle of PFF).

And as long as Dwayne Haskins continues to grow, McLaurin's only going to become harder to stop.
